The collapsing US military & economic empire is making Washington & NATO even more dangerous. US could not beat the Taliban but thinks it can take on China-Russia-Iran...a sign of psychopathology for sure. They used to sell Tee-shirts at the BX with the S.A.C. logo, a mailed fist with lightning bolts, and their official motto of "Peace is our profession" how very Orwellian. And the unofficial "funny" motto of "Killing is our hobby".

My Landlady, a Vietnam widow whose husband died of Agent Orange, was told by VA to take some paperwork to Peterson AFB (or any Military base, but PAFB had bus service and the others didn't)
The Guards at the gate weren't Air Force.
I know what Air Force SPs look like, and these guys weren't. both of them had non-regulation haircuts and one had facial hair. Strict no-no for the SPs.
We found out later they're Blackwater.
Lovely, yes? They wouldn't let me pass because I didn't have a state ID and Miss Johnnie had the military paperwork. What she was supposed to do was get her Military Dependents ID. (this was 3 1/2 years ago)
The clerk at the Admin Building was also a mercenary. They threatened to arrest her for simply following VA directions. to get the Health Care they promised her husband (and never delivered, they didn't admit he had died of Service Connected until 5 years after he was gone)
This shows the lies the recruiters tell to be exactly what they are. They'll tell the kids they're enticing to get into their van (is that outrageous enough a metaphor? I can make it even more so if necessary) that they'll take care of them and their dependents for life.

They kill the enemy, they kill their own comrades, they just don't give a damn.
And now, they have more toys for enjoying their sick hobby.
